BRIDGES would like to congratulate our project partners Sindillar/Sindihogar, a union of domestic and care workers. The reason is twofold: on 13 November Sindillar/Sindihogar celebrated 10 years of existence, collective struggle and mutual support. And on 16 December, they received the first prize from the Barcelona City Council’s Municipal Migration Council for their project “The anti-racist care route”. To celebrate these two milestones with them, we would like to share an extract from the texts read during the event celebrating their tenth anniversary. “Ten years of struggle, ten years of independently claiming our rights, building our political path together, valuing the knowledge of all, learning together, hip to hip with each other, building a life with more dignity. (…) For the vindication of enjoyment and pleasure, we will fight until life is worth living and we no longer have comrades without papers, without labour rights. (…) We will continue in the streets demanding the abolition of the law for foreigners and a radical change in the current regulations governing domestic and care work; a sexist regulation that devalues our work, substantial work to sustain all the living”.
